Double click this photo and have patience.  It is almost a megabyte in size and we kept it that way to preserve the fantastic detail that can be seen.

This photo is generously provided to Historic River Road Collection© by Mr. Jacob Wilbert who received it from his grandfather, the late George Wilbert.  Jacob is presently restoring his grandfather's story and a half raised cottage, facing the bayou Plaquemine and located next to the mill.  The house was built by Capt. John Calhoun Brown whose steam boat is seen parked right in front of his house.  This is the St. Johns Cemetery headstone of Capt. John Calhoun Brown.

We sincerely thank Mr. Jacob Wilbert for sharing this photo with us and now with you.

The viewable detail is amazing.  Wait for the picture to load and if you'd like greater detail, hover your mouse around the bottom right corner until this symbol appears and then click on it.  At that point you must use the scroll bars to navigate the picture.  There are people standing in a number of places, clothes on the lines at many homes, St. Johns Cemetery is seen to the top of the lumber storage area and across the street from St. Johns Cemetery is the much smaller Protestant Cemetery.  Recent aerial views of these two cemeteries are on the Iberville Cemeteries page.
